Free Outdoor Fall Scavenger Hunt Printable
This free outdoor fall scavenger hunt printable is a great way to get your kids outside and exploring! Perfect for a cool fall day in your backyard, on a hike, or at a farm!
Fall is my FAVORITE time of year. Crisp air, boots and scarves, cozy fires, and all the outdoor fun. That’s why I love activities like this one, because it’s a simple way to get the kids busy and curious when you need to get them outside. It also allows them to work on their problem solving skills.
This fall scavenger hunt activity can be done at home in your backyard, at a park, on a hike, or at a farm. If you choose to do it at home, you may have to prepare ahead of time to ensure you have more specific items like a pumpkin or a scarecrow. If you do it at a farm, you’ll more than likely find everything you need (like hay bales, animal tracks, and gourds). I love to do this scavenger hunt at my local farm where they have fruit picking, hay rides, and a farm store.
If you do this activity at home and you don’t have access to a tractor or lawn mower, get creative! A toy tractor or lawn mower is a good substitute.

Outdoor Fall Scavenger Hunt Tips:
- For the youngsters, consider directing them toward some of the more complicated objects with prompts and clues, such as Do mama birds live with their baby birds in trees?, Where do acorns live before they fall to the ground? or What types of animals might leave tracks around here?
- For larger groups, or if you have small children involved, separating into smaller groups can make this Fall activity more fun and engaging! Encourage the older kids to team up with the younger kids.
