Kids Pumpkin Painting Activity

Looking for easy and fun fall project ideas for kids? This simple pumpkin painting activity is a great way to entertain your littles during this cozy time of year!
Pumpkins are a staple when autumn rolls in, and home does not feel quite right without them! Whether you use them as spooky decoration, or you’re more of a *cozy autumn vibes* family… pumpkins always get the job done.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not super crazy about the mess that comes with pumpkin carving. I know it’s all part of the experience, but sometimes I could just do without it. So this year, we are switching it up and painting our pumpkins instead of carving!
No need steps or directions needed for this simple pumpkin painting activity! Simply squirt some acrylic paints on a paper plate or craft board and put your brushes to work. You can make painted pumpkins with any size you want. We went with small-medium pumpkins.
What you’ll need:
- small pumpkin
- acrylic paints
- paint brush
- cup of water

If your kids are toddlers or preschool age like mine, let them have at it. No need for color or message control – this activity is meant to feel fun and without rules!
If your kids are a bit older and under stand color and pattern logic, give them some prompts! This may include stripes, polka dots, zig zags or alternating colors.
